GROOVE Podcast 496 – Jana Falcon

Jana Falcon is as immersed in the dance music scene as it gets. Mainly focusing on all things house music, the DJ, producer and vinyl cutting engineer has been around for well over a decade—as a dancer and an artist. For her contribution to our podcast series, the vinyl-only DJ put some freshly delivered records to the test. The result is nothing short of a masterclass of commanding, uplifting and life-affirming house music.

What did you have in mind when recording this mix?

I just received a big package of new records one day before I recorded the mix and was super happy that I could play them. My plan was to make the mix funky, sexy, dynamic, and booty-shaky.

Where did you record it and which setup did you use?

I recorded the set in my cozy living room in Schöneberg with 2 Technics 1210 and an Allen & Heath Xone 42.

What’s the most memorable gig you played so far?

Wow, that’s not an easy question. There have been many gigs that felt super special. But there was this one unbelievable gig in summer 2025 that felt so unreal and still makes me wanna cry tears of joy. I played this super underground-ish festival outside of Berlin organized by Stefano Cracco and his wonderful crew. It’s called RZ Festival; RZ stands for Ramba Zamba. If you try to google it you won’t find anything. I didn’t know what to expect at all and it absolutely blew my mind. My friend Bridgette aka Beewack came with me and we’’’ve never experienced anything like this before. The people, the location, the sound and the food—simply the best! Everyone put in so much effort to create this beautiful adventure for everyone. No photos, no videos, just pure vibes and passion for music. For me that was also one of the best sets I’ve ever played and I couldn’t have done it without the people in this room.

Can you name a secret weapon that you use frequently?

One of my secret weapons is Lovestation – Teardrops (Classic 12 Inch Mix), released 1998 on Jive. I love to play it as a closing track. Pure joy, cheeky, uplifting and a badass bassline—BOOM!

Three recent releases that caught your attention?

Biesmans & Johannes Albert – Tangerine Beam on Frank Music. What a banger!

„Body Jerkin'“ by Stacy Kidd feat. Peven Everett. The Chicago Mix immediately hit my spot and I had to buy it.

Benedict released an amazing two track EP called Something in 2024.

What do you have coming up?

My two dear friends Darwin Stapel, 7ommes and myself are starting a new queer party called A-Side. Our first show will be at Crack Bellmer on April 17th. Also I’m incredibly grateful for my new residency for the wonderful Garage Girls, run by DJNORTHERN and Kenza. Lots of exciting shows are happening here soon, so stay tuned! And I’ll play my debut at Conne Island in Leipzig on April 5th hosted by Neele who is an amazing DJ and part of the Electric Island crew which is hosting House events there for more than 20 years.
